Our Story
Excerpt from Gujarat Today (12/6/2016): Many live with expectations of external help, but some dedicate their lives to societal welfare, turning deserts into gardens. Shri Mushtak Ahmadkhan, founder of Shams Group of Schools, exemplifies this spirit. Through the Haji Nurul Hasan Charitable Trust, he established schools in Rakhiyal, Bapunagar, and Gomtipur, providing Urdu, Gujarati, and English-medium education to ensure children of poor and laborer families are not deprived of learning.
Founder's Legacy
Originally from Uttar Pradesh and born in Ahmedabad, Shri Mushtak Ahmadkhan, a non-matriculate and former mill laborer, dedicated his life to education after winning a Municipal Corporation election in 1978. Noticing a lack of higher education opportunities in Urdu-medium schools in East Ahmedabad, he worked tirelessly, overcoming obstacles to establish Shams School in 2000. The school initially offered education from grades 1 to 4 and later up to grade 8 in Urdu medium. His efforts were inspired by Shri P. A. Inamdar of Azam Campus, Pune, and Shri Siraj Tirmizi of Gujarat Today.

Vision Realized
Over the years, Shams Group of Schools grew steadily, driven by Mushtak Ahmad's determination and support from his uncle Haji Nurulhasan and wife Begam Naiyar. Inspired by his father-in-law, Janab Niyaz Ahmad Siddiqi, an Urdu scholar, Mushtak aimed to provide education for children of poor laborers in Ahmedabad's mill areas, keeping them away from poverty and anti-social activities.
Starting with just 100 students in a small setup at Bilal Complex, the school now educates over 2,000 students from KG to 12th grade in Urdu, Gujarati, and English mediums, offering science and general streams. Recognized by dignitaries like the Islamic Development Bank team, which granted $200,000, the school embodies the spirit of "Khidmate Khalk." Mushtak Ahmad called the school a small effort to repay the community that uplifted him from mill worker to corporator. Today, Shams School stands as a beacon of progress, flourishing as a large institution near Ajit Mill, Rakhiyal.

The perception of ‘Khidmate Khalk’ of ‘Shams Group of School’
Education is the foundation of societal progress. A society that values learning can embrace change and thrive. The Shams Group of Schools embodies this belief, tirelessly promoting education in Ahmedabad's underprivileged areas. Guided by the principle of Khidmate Khalk (service to society), the team visited homes of poor and laboring families, emphasizing the importance of education for the next generation. Their efforts sparked a wave of awareness, attracting children to studies and providing support such as books, fee exemptions, and guidance. By championing education, Shams Group inspires progress and motivates the community to build a brighter future.

The Municipal Corporation had allotted the plot for the new building for Shams school at concessional rate after considering the activities of the school.
Thanks to its exceptional educational contributions, Shams School was granted a 2,000-yard municipal plot at a 50% concessional rate by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. This decision was based on a policy supporting schools in educationally backward areas of East Ahmedabad that had operated successfully for five years with strong SSC results. The plot at Rajpur T.P. Scheme No. 10 was allocated to the Haji Nurulhasan Master Charitable Trust for constructing a new school building, which is now under development, further advancing the mission of Shams Group of Schools.

The school had exempted the entire fees to the students from 9th to 12th std. That had got the admission in the 9th std. from 8th std with 75% marks. This rule was declared and implemented.
The school had announced the new policy from June-2017 in which the students seeking admission in 9th std. in any medium without the bar of percentage will be allowed the entire exemption in the fees in the 10th std. This policy was framed so that the poor students should not be deprived from the education.
The school had decided to create smart classes apart from the exemption in fees through which all the students can avail the facilities of latest educational facilities. The work towards this project is under progress. The approximate expenses of the project are as under.
